VERMONT SOAPWORKS TO LATHER UP NEW YORK EARTH FAIR 2000 WITH HANDMADE NATURAL SOAP CARVING

Handmade natural soap is good for your skin, and the earth!

Middlebury, VT – Vermont Soapworks will hold a natural soap carving exhibit at Earth Fair 2000 on Sunday, April 16 in Manhattan's Battery Park from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The exhibit offers the public an opportunity to sculpt Earth Day themes out of Sudzy Putty, a new all-natural product made from 100% recycled factory soap scraps. Earth Fair 2000 kicks-off "Earth Week" with music, interactive exhibits, speakers, and vendors in a beautiful setting with views of the Hudson River and Statue of Liberty.

Vermont Soapworks, the largest manufacturer of handmade natural bar soaps in North America, is proud to be a participant at Earth Fair 2000. "Every day is Earth Day at Vermont Soapworks," exclaims company President and Founder Larry Plesent. "Our mission is to provide consumers with all-natural alternatives to conventional products and to educate them on why handmade natural soap is good for their skin and good for the environment." In addition to the soap carving exhibit at their booth, Vermont Soapworks will be selling natural soap products including Vermont Country Soap (bar soaps), Wash dem Veggies (a fruit & vegetable rinse), and Aloe Castile Liquid Soap and Liquid Sunshine (all purpose cleaners).

Vermont Soapworks products are made from all-natural renewable vegetable and botanical sources: saponified oils of palm, coconut, and olive; liquid aloe; and essential oils in aromatherapy blends. Rosemary extract is used as a natural preservative. All of their products are free of artificial colors, fragrances, preservatives, and animal by-products and they are not tested on animals. Vermont Soapworks products are extraordinarily mild, moisturizing, hypoallergenic and keep skin softer, healthier and younger looking.

Master Soapmakers create Vermont Country Soap the old-fashioned way. Natural ingredients are blended in small batches and poured into wooden molds. When ready, the soap is wire cut, placed on oak drying frames and aged in a curing room for a month. This process removes excess alkali, a major cause of dryness and irritation often found in conventional soaps.

These environmentally-friendly products are sold in health food, gourmet and specialty stores nationwide. For more information consumers can visit www.vermontsoap.com or call 802-388-4302. For more information on Earth Fair 2000, contact the event staff at 212-922-0048.
